Artist Robin Magdahlen
One of my best memories as a child was opening a brand new 'big' box of crayons. When my friends had posters of Bobby Sherman on their walls I had a huge mural. I have always been drawn to art that provides a function and the possibility it holds.
As a painter I am self-taught. I hold a B.A. in Theatre from San Francisco State University and an M.A. in Psychology and Drama Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies also in San Francisco. I have always enjoyed art and fiddling with whatever I could get my hands on, but painting did not take hold until I was in graduate school. Painting provided a much needed emotional outlet while working with many populations all grappling with mental disease/distress. During this time I also experimented with incorporating art into drama therapy groups. What started as an outlet turned into a passion. I moved to Portland Oregon in 2001 and am now a proud Oregonian married to the best guy possible, have two great kids and am the proud caretaker of Lily the wonder dog.
